The Chicago Chesed Fund is giving people another reason to smile. For their fourth year in a row, they play Labor Day hosts to the much-anticipated annual Tesla raffle, an innovative fundraiser, where one lucky winner will choose between a Tesla model of their choice (Tesla Model 3, Tesla S, or Tesla X – valued at $84,000) or $50k cash. Riding the waves of previous years’ successes, the event has already garnered considerable attention, as tickets continue to sell at a rapid pace to participants all over the world.
As classic fundraisers grew trite and lacked captivating appeal, the Chicago Chesed Fund sought to create a one-of-a-kind event that would better raise awareness for the organization and its assistance to hundreds of Chicago’s Jewish families, as well as give people the opportunity to walk away with a memorable prize. After hours of brainstorming sessions, the Tesla raffle was born.
“We found a way to put smiles on people’s faces while helping out a great cause that strives to brighten the lives of those in need,” explains Rabbi Shmuel Fuerst, founder of the Chicago Chesed Fund.
Last year’s raffle proved happiness can travel across the globe. Avrumie Russell, a native of Chicago living in Israel, received an unexpected call on his wedding day. “I was woken up in the middle of the night by a call from the Chicago Chesed Fund informing me I had won the grand prize!” he says. “Adding to the emotions racing through my body that day, I was overcome with joy and could hardly believe what I was hearing. I’m so glad I participated in a raffle that benefits countless families receive the vital assistance they need. I think it’s safe to say I received the best wedding present ever.”
The Chicago Chesed Fund is a nonprofit organization committed to helping families in crisis throughout the Chicagoland area. It provides critical assistance in the form of goods, services and financial support in an environment, and through programs, that maintain the dignity and integrity of each and every recipient.
