Emergency responders will practice a full-scale emergency response exercise at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
The Port Authority for New York and New Jersey says the Saturday drills will test responders in a simulated accident of a passenger aircraft.
The Port Authority says the exercise won’t disrupt flights — but airline passengers and motorists driving on the Grand Central Parkway may be able to see fake smoke from the drill.
The Port Authority police will join staff from Delta Air Lines, LaGuardia and officials from the New York Police Department, Fire Department and U.S. Customs and Border Protection among other agencies for the drill.
