Fire authorities say eight people have been hurt, several of them seriously, in a Manhattan vehicle crash.
A white car jumped the curb and hit a 24-hour grocery in the East Village around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
In the aftermath, a large tree and a street sign were down. Outdoor refrigerator cases were overturned. A flower display was strewn on the sidewalk.
A bunch of flowers were on the crumpled hood of the car, which was sprawled over a crosswalk about an hour later. Its front windshield was cracked and the back window was destroyed.
