Citing his leadership and commitment to fighting injustice, Brooklyn Congressmembers Yvette Clarke and Hakeem Jeffries today enthusiastically endorsed former federal prosecutor Ken Thompson for Brooklyn District Attorney. With these first congressional endorsements for any candidate in the race for D.A., momentum is surging for Thompson’s campaign to be Brooklyn’s next D.A., as it follows endorsements from the Bay Ridge Democrats, Lambda Independent Democrats, Brooklyn-Queens NOW PAC and Muslim Democrats of New York.
“I have known Ken Thompson for almost twenty years. He is the right man, with the right plan, at the right time for Brooklyn District Attorney,” said Rep. Hakeem Jeffries. “Ken’s smart, forward-looking vision for the office, lifelong commitment to justice and record standing up for the most vulnerable in our society is exactly what we need from our borough’s top prosecutor. That is why I have chosen to support his dynamic candidacy, and urge the people of Brooklyn to do the same.”
“At this moment, Ken Thompson is the best choice for Brooklyn District Attorney,” said Rep. Yvette Clarke. “Ken Thompson has stood up for our communities as a prosecutor and as a lawyer in private practice, there is no doubt he will stand up for us as D.A. From reforming stop and frisk to keeping our streets safe, we need new leadership and new energy to bring change for the people of Brooklyn. Ken Thompson is the fighter we need.”
“I’m so proud to have the strong support of Congressmembers Hakeem Jeffries and Yvette Clarke, two outstanding leaders in the reform movement in Brooklyn – leaders who have never backed down from a tough fight on behalf of the people they represent,” said former prosecutor and candidate for D.A. Ken Thompson. “As District Attorney, I look forward to working with Hakeem Jeffries and Yvette Clarke as partners in the fight for equal justice for all New Yorkers.”

This is the first that I’ve heard anything from Clarke in years and I’m in her district.
