New York City police officers are involved in a standoff with a suspect in the 2010 killing of a college student.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne says a squad went to arrest the man in public housing on Manhattan’s Lower East Side on Wednesday morning, and he refused to come out of the apartment.

Three other people were inside, including children, and police are treating it as a hostage situation. It isn’t clear whether the man is armed.

Police were talking to someone through the door, presumably the suspect.

Police say the man is a suspect in the killing of a Pace University student who was selling marijuana out of an apartment in Manhattan’s financial district.
