High pressure over the area will gradually move east tonight into Thursday. Clouds continue to thicken and lower this evening with lows in the upper 40s to upper 50s. On Thursday . . . a low pressure system approaches from the southwest with mostly cloudy skies increasing to cloudy by Thursday night. Highs will be slightly below normal . . . lower to middle 70s. Rain chances begin late Thursday afternoon and rain will overspread the area west to east overnight Thursday. Lows will be near normal . . . upper 50s to lower 60s. RAIN CONTINUES ALL DAY ON FRIDAY AND COULD BE HEAVY AT TIMES. Highs will range in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Precipitation and Timing
The chance of rain on Friday is 80 percent with the main body of rainfall occurring from about noon on Friday to late Friday night/early Saturday morning. While there is still some uncertainty with the timing for this rain event, the forecast confidence is at about 60-70 percent for heavy rain in general on Friday and possibly into Saturday according to NWS. A total of 2 to 3 inches of rainfall is possible, and under worst case scenario conditions, rainfall rates of 1.5 to 2 inches of rain per hour (for an unknown duration at this point) are possible.
Coastal Flooding
Minor coastal flooding, which has been described as a secondary impact by NWS, is possible during astronomical high tides depending on the timing of this event.

NWS has indicated that flooding as a direct result from rainfall is the primary threat with this event and preparations should be made accordingly.
