BROOKLYN- In the race for City Council in Brooklyn’s 47th District, Edwin Cosme, a prominent business leader in Coney Island, has endorsed Mark Treyger. Cosme, a lifelong resident of Coney Island, has served as President of the Coney Island Board of Trade* for the past three years. Additionally, he is the Founder and President of the Coney Island Sports Foundation*, and a co-Founder of the People’s Coalition of Coney Island*. Cosme owns two businesses on Mermaid Avenue that were impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
“As our community continues to rebuild and recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, we need a skilled organizer and coalition builder representing us in City Hall, and that person is Mark Treyger,” said Cosme. “He understands that our infrastructure needs vast improvement and he’s been active in our efforts to bring resources and relief to Coney Island. It is my pleasure to endorse his candidacy for City Council and I urge all Coney Island residents to get behind his campaign.”

When Hurricane Sandy devastated our community, Edwin took action- traveling to Washington to demand federal resources for our community. I’ve always been inspired by his dedication to his community, and I’m so honored to have his support in this race.”
Mark Treyger is an educator, community activist and aide to Assemblyman William Colton. He teaches civics at New Utrecht High School and has served as the President of the United Progressive Democratic Club for the past decade. He is running for Council in the 47th Council District, Brooklyn, which encompasses the neighborhoods of Bensonhurst, Gravesend, Coney Island and Sea Gate.
