The New York Police Department has identified a 14-year-old girl who was shot and killed while on board a New York City bus. A search for the shooter is under way.

Police say Daja Robinson was shot in the head while on the Q6 bus in the southeastern part of Jamaica, Queens around 9 p.m. Saturday.

A police spokesman says the shooter was outside the bus on Sutphin Boulevard.

Robinson was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The circumstances around the shooting were unknown.
