Activists are gathering around the city today, also known as May Day and International Workers’ Day. Members of Occupy Wall Street are joining labor, immigrant rights and student activists for a series of events to call for economic equality.
Rallies are planned in several parts of Manhattan including Bryant Park, the Financial District and Union Square where protestors will gather at 4 p.m.
Tens of thousands are expected at that rally.
Demonstrators will march down Broadway a little after 5 p.m., and a closing rally is planned outside City Hall at 6 p.m.
