The lower level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will be closed this weekend for the Five Borough Bike Tour. The closure will impact those Island-bound between midnight and 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The upper level will remain open.

For those participating in the event there is also some extra security in place.

Backpacks, hydration packs and bicycle saddlebags will not be permitted.

Race officials say they will be confiscated and not returned.
