An educational Stroke and Brain Injury Expo, the first of its kind in
Brooklyn, will take place on Monday, April 29th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at
Menorah Hall, 5000-14th Avenue in Boro Park. Sponsored by BINA Stroke &
Brain Injury Assistance, this informative and “hands-on” event will be an
invaluable opportunity for both brain injury survivors and caregivers to
learn about a wide range of services and rehabilitation options.
Exhibits will include world-renowned adult and pediatric rehabilitation
facilities, legal and Medicaid resources, home and vehicle accessibility
options and expert practitioners in the fields of physical, occupational and
speech therapy. An instructor from an adaptive driving school for the
disabled will be available to answer questions with a modified car on site,
and a van from a premier company for wheelchair accessible vehicles will
also be on display. Be prepared to gain a wealth of vital information for
both adults and children traveling on the road to rehabilitation.
BINA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the needs of individuals of
all ages who have been affected by stroke and acquired brain injury, with a
unique awareness of the needs of the Jewish population. BINA guides hundreds
of brain injury survivors a year as well as their families through the
complex and overwhelming world of brain injury rehabilitation, with an array
of services including referrals, case management, crisis intervention,
support, education and more. A combination of extensive research and
unparalleled expertise combine to provide a matchless opportunity for brain
injury survivors to achieve all possible goals.
A highlight of the evening will be a presentation by distinguished
psychologist Dr. David Pelcovitz on the topic, “Coping with Crisis.” Dr.
Pelcovitz’s wealth of knowledge and experience and engaging manner will
surely be a source of inspiration to all participants.
Admission is free and the hall is wheelchair accessible. Valet parking will
be available throughout the evening and light refreshments will be served.
