An off-duty New York City police officer has been arrested on charges related to armed robbery and narcotics trafficking.
Authorities say 45-year-old Jose Tejada was arrested Wednesday at John F. Kennedy Airport as he returned from the Dominican Republic. The Drug Enforcement Agency assisted the NYPD in the arrest.
Police say the 17-year veteran of the NYPD was assigned to a precinct in the Bronx. Details on the charges were not immediately available. It wasn’t clear if Tejada had a lawyer.
