There’s good news for commuters who’ve been without a major transit link at the southern tip of Manhattan since Superstorm Sandy.

The old South Ferry Station is being reopened on Thursday morning.

Sandy caused massive damage to the new $500 million South Ferry station that opened in 2009. It’s closed for a three-year rebuilding.

South Ferry is the last stop on the No. 1 train. It’s a critical link for commuters taking the Staten Island ferry. The closure has forced many to walk several blocks uptown to a catch a train.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority made the announcement Wednesday.
