A vehicle backing up struck and injured a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk along Queens Boulevard Tuesday morning.

The accident happened in the Kew Gardens section in Queens just before 8:45 a.m.

The vehicle pushed the 84 year old victim into the front of the UPS Store at 125-28 Queens Boulevard.

He was taken to Jamaica Medical Center in critical condition.

The 64 year old driver fled the scene, but he was quickly apprehended. Police say charges are pending.

The crash occurred across the street from the Queens Criminal Courthouse.
