A biting cold has put a freeze on the tri-state, but temperatures should to warm up by Tuesday, bringing along clouds and some rain.
The wind chills in the five boroughs will make it feel like the temperature is in the teens and single digits.
A wind chill advisory was issued Monday morning for Sullivan and Ulster counties until 10 a.m. Wind chills are below zero north of the city. The strong winds should calm down Monday afternoon, and clouds will return tonight.
Warmer temperatures will arrive Tuesday, with rain expected across the area.
Meteorologists expect the rain to break out Tuesday afternoon and evening. Far north and west, snow and sleet may cause some slippery spots in Ulster and Sullivan counties for the evening commute. All of the rain/snow should exit late Tuesday evening.
Another shot of cold air and wind arrive Wednesday and Thursday. Clouds increase Friday, but rain should hold out throughout the day.
