Sanitation Department Issues ‘Snow Alert’ For Wednesday

As the city prepares for at least three more inches of snow fall between Wednesday night to Thursday morning, the city Department of Sanitation is loading its salt spreaders and preparing plows to clear the probable snow. The agency’s workers will also be placed on alert starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, meaning they may be called to work.

Light flurries are expected to start around 4 p.m. Wednesday and then steady snow will fall between 7 p.m. Wednesday to 2 a.m. Thursday, bringing between three to six inches of snow.

Sanitation officials are coordinating with the Office of Emergency Management and Department Of Transportation on how to clear snow from the roadways.
