Metro-North Railroad says it is providing extra train service to help commuters get home ahead of the winter storm.
Metro-North says it will operate a regular weekday schedule until noon on Friday. Then, between noon and 8 p.m., the railroad will operate a revised schedule with an increase in train service in the afternoon and fewer trains scheduled for after 5p.m.
The railroad warns that train service may be reduced or suspended depending on weather conditions. Customers should check www.mta.info for the latest updates.
The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for New York City, Long Island and southern Westchester County for Friday into Saturday.
The weather service says the city should get 10 to 12 inches of snow.
