The American Red Cross issued a progress report Tuesday on its response to Hurricane Sandy and the recovery. The report focused both on the immediate response and long-term plans.
Of the more than 16,800 disaster workers deployed in the last three months, 1,000 are still working and handing out supplies.
The Red Cross has distributed more than 11 million meals and snacks.
Seven million of those went to New York.
Nearly 7 million relief items like blankets and cleaning supplies were distributed.
The Red Cross is also helping approximately 9,000 families whose homes were damaged or destroyed to rebuild or get them into longer-term housing.
The organization received $254 million in donations and pledges.
By the end of January, $145 million will have been allocated to help victims.
