A new website will make it easier for New Yorkers to view, analyze and download information about the city’s spending.
The city Comptroller’s office is unveiling the site, www.CheckbookNYC.com , on Wednesday.
According to The New York Times, the site also will let users identify such things as cost overruns, delays in contracts and the biggest recipients of overtime pay.
Councilwoman Gale Brewer said that until now the council had to request spending data from the mayor’s office.
She said making the information public will allow lawmakers to ask more pointed questions.
The website will be updated each morning with the latest city disbursements.
The mayor’s office said it cooperated with the comptroller’s office on the site.
