The driver of a yellow cab died this morning following an early-morning car accident on the East Side of Manhattan. Police say Mir Hoosain, 35, of Queens was standing in front of his taxi on 26th Street between Third and Lexington Avenues around 2 a.m. when an SUV crashed into the cab.
The impact sent the cab forward, pinning and severely injuring Hoosain.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several parked cars were also hit during the accident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
