Hate Crime In Crown Heights: Racist Graffiti Covers Entire City Block

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating after racist graffiti was discovered on an entire block in Crown Heights.

Authorities say someone spray-painted anti-black and anti-Semitic messages on buildings along Lincoln Place, between Utica and Rochester avenues, Monday morning.

Neighbors say they were shocked to find that door posts, stairs and other parts of people’s homes were covered with vulgar words and signs.

Following the discovery of spray-painted racist and anti-Semitic messages on buildings along Lincoln Place in Crown Heights, New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio released the following statement:

“This hateful display of intolerance targeted one street, but it is an attack on the entire City of New York. The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is right to investigate. The perpetrators will hear our message with absolute clarity – there is no place for them in Brooklyn or in this city. They will be apprehended. They will be prosecuted. And their days of spreading hate in our neighborhoods will be over.”

  1. There is an important lesson in this crime. It took place at a spot that straddles the Jewish and African-American sections of Crown Heights, and the vandal expressed hatred for both groups. All Jews and African-Americans must remember that unfounded hatred is their common enemy.
