A bear continues to wander around Airmont, occasionally stuffing his head into a garbage can looking for a tasty treat. Ramapo police don’t feel the four-legged bear poses a danger. They understand the wild animal could scare people.
Patrol officers have tried to keep the bear moving, with hopes he will disappear back into the woods or move on to New Jersey.
Experts recommend residents not feed bears and instead discourage bears by not putting garbage cans outside until just before pickup and by spraying the cans with ammonia.
