Ramapo Police responded to N. Garfield Rd. in New Square at approximately 8:55pm, Sunday evening, to investigate a motor vehicle accident. Investigation on scene revealed that an 8-year-old child (female) had run from her house on N. Garfield Rd. out into the roadway in front of an oncoming 2012 Honda Odyssey and was struck.

The child suffered minor injuries to her legs and head and was tended to on scene by Hatzoloh Ambulance. The child was transported to Nyack Hospital via Hatzoloh Ambulance for further medical evaluation along with a parent.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident remained on scene and was interviewed by responding officers. The incident is currently under investigation. At this time no traffic summonses were issued.
