A once-rejected idea to add another Thruway exit in Monsey may get new life.
Rockland members of the Tappan Zee Mass Transit Task Force plan to ask the New York State Thruway Authority to consider building Exit 14X.
The interchange, near Monsey Heights Road where the Thruway crosses under Route 59, would be close to a proposed park-and-ride lot that could one day serve as a rapid- transit bus stop.
Aside from the transit benefits, Exit 14X would take traffic away from exits 14 in Spring Valley and 14B in Airmont, reducing congestion on Route 59.
