Structure Fire In Home Of McNamara Road


fire - sifrei torah burnedAt approximately 1:00AM, emergency personnel were called to a report of a structure fire at 69 McNamara Road in the Village of Wesley Hills. Town of Ramapo officers arrived and confirmed that four residents of the structure were out of the house.

Hillcrest F.D. arrived and began to extinguish the fire and confirmed that all occupants were in fact out of the house.

The residents of the house were awakened by the smoke detectors and observed the smoke and evacuated the residence and called 911 as they left. The homeowner was on vacation. The residents a husband and wife and their two small children age 3 & 1 suffered no injuries and were staying with friends in the area.

Hillcrest F.D. was assisted by Spring Valley F.D. and Monsey F.D. along with Rockland Paramedics and Springhill Ambulance. The Village of Wesley Hills Building and Fire inspectors were also on the scene along with the Rockland County Sheriffs Arson investigators. It was determined that the nature of the fire was not suspicious, and the focus of the investigation was centered on recent electrical work conducted on the house.

No injuries were reported by first responder personnel on the scene. The house was secured with assistance from the Village of Wesley Hills.
