On June 13, 2013 at approximately 3:16 a.m. the Ramapo Police Department responded to the area of Cherry Lane, in the Village of Airmont, for the report of individuals damaging mailboxes and private property. Upon the arrival of responding officers, the individuals were observed placing a large boulder in the northbound travel lane of Cherry Lane, near Phillips Drive, and subsequently fleeing into a wooded area. After a comprehensive search of the area, a male suspect was located and arrested by a Ramapo police officer. While conducting the investigation, two other male suspects were located and apprehended.
The damage to property consisted of seven total mailboxes on Cherry Lane and Eileen Court, a lamp post on private property on Cherry Lane, and a street sign on Annette Lane.
The arrested individuals are as follows:
Matthew Pereira, a 20 year old resident of the Village of Airmont
Andrew Boyd, a 21 year old resident of the Village of Airmont
William Konefal, a 22 year old resident of the Village of Hillburn
All three individuals were charged with the following crimes:
Criminal Mischief 4th degree (A Misdemeanor) – 9 counts each
Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree (A Misdemeanor) – 1 count each
Reckless Endangerment of Property (B Misdemeanor) – 1 count each
