Today – Tuesday, February 19th, there is a Special Election being held for the New York City Council. Pesach Osina, a frum Jew, is running against several other candidates.
Because it’s a special election, you can vote in this election regardless of what party you are registered with. Democrats, Republican, Conservatives and Independents can all vote today.
Pesach is a fixture in the community. He has worked as an aide to Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder and has always been there when anyone in the community was in need. The acts of Pesach Osina in the aftermath of the devastation of Superstorm Sandy are legendary.
Last week, there was a candidates forum at the Springfield Gardens Community Church. Because it was held in a church, Pesach could not attend. At this event, the popular community leader, Reverend Charles Norris, challenged all of the other candidates for Council with the following question:
“Which one of you thinks you are best to run to beat the Jew that’s running in Far rockaway?”
None of the candidates responded to this blatantly anti-Semitic question.
Going out to Vote for Pesach Osina today will accomplish many important objectives:
1. You will be listening to the words of Gedolei Torah, who have clearly stated that voting is an important halachic imperative as well as a civic duty.
2. You will be helping to elect someone who will be dedicated to looking out for the needs of the community.
3. You will be showing the political world that the Jewish community has a voice.
4. You will be helping to combat anti-Semitism and show Reverend Norris that his fear tactics are unsuccessful.
In the past few years there have been many elections decided by less than 50 votes! Please go out today and support your community by voting for Pesach Osina for City Council.

As the Reverand Noris said to the other candidates ““None of you will be elected because you haven’t done the math,” Norris said. “You have one white person from Far Rockaway that’s in the race. Jews vote in a block. They will knock everyone of you out. Which one of you thinks you are best to run to beat the Jew that’s running in Far Rockaway?”
Remember to vote! And if you have friends or relatives in Far Rockaway or Bayswater remind them.
