The most devastating natural disaster in NYC history took place this week, and the elected official who claims to represent us in New York State is missing in action. I am referring to NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind.
The Jewish communities have been hit hard, with the storm leaving war-zone type sights in its destructive path. Communities are without power, heat and hot water and the gas lines are as long as SEVEN HOURS LONG. There is no need to delve into the extent of the damage of the storm, and how everyone in New York was affected by it.
That being said, it is outrageous that our longest-serving elected official has not been heard from. Not one word. And not to worry, Dov Hikind knows how to make noise. Just spray-paint a swastika on a wall in a public restroom in Oklahoma and he will have a press conference, screaming and yelling about how his mother is a
Holocaust survivor.
Today is Election Day, and Dov Hikind is nowhere to be found. A Google search brought up a news story that he was campaigning in Florida for Mitt Romney. How despicable is that? He has sold his own constituents down the river so he can go on a junket in Florida. Weather in Miami right now: 81 degrees. Weather in Brooklyn now: 41 degrees. Must be nice to be Dov Hikind.
He must be – and should be – held accountable. While countless homes in our district were without power, our Assemblyman who gets paid to work for us, was enjoying the Sunshine State.
I’m sure this letter will generate the usual “nuuu…it’s Lashon hara” comments. But let’s be realistic. This is utterly disgusting and Dov Hikind deserves to be called out for ignoring our needs.
It’s high-time that people in this district wake up and support a new candidate to send Dov Hikind to Florida permanently.

Have you called his office to ask what DOV has been doing? or you are playing the assumption game that so many are good at!
Well said, Technically you are correct!
BUT
sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture. At this point he is doing whats better in the long run, Getting us our new president. He is doing important work also. I wont say it’s more important but it IS important – at least on the same level.
Voted for Tischler. Time for change!
Your main point aside…. How is your response an answer to your question???? (“I’m sure this letter will generate the usual “nuuu…it’s Lashon hara” comments. But let’s be realistic. This is utterly disgusting and Dov Hikind deserves to be called out for ignoring our needs.”)
I agree with #4. This blog post is Lashon Horah. It should be taken down. No wonder the Gedolim say blogs are destructive.
Moshe (Mitchell) Tischler got my vote!
While Mr Shuchat is a victim of anti smetisim by brooklyn DA HYNES . Dov Hikind is the only one that stood up for him and took action, while everyone in brooklyn is sleeping.
Dov Hikind is a man of truth
I don’t know. Unless someone really has some agenda, some political or personal interest in attacking Dov, I don’t see any reason YW decided to publish this.
1) You actually think he has ignored us?!?
2) How do you know for a fact he’s done nothing?
3) Do you really think this needs some quick fix job? Do you know the job that waits to be done? Do you know exactly how to attempt to try to start and organize a rebuilding / rehabilitation?
4) Just because your haughtiness has not heard anything from him does not indicate a thing. Does he actually work out of your office.
5) Say he did, for some reason he decided to sleep it through the entire week (storm, flood, fire and all), does that warrant your so vile vicious attack?
And no. I don’t work for him. I just can’t stand one (supposedly) Yid hacking publicly against another. (as if shmiras haloshon doesn’t exist). שתו בשמים פיהם ולשונם תהלך בארץ
Cool it.
Guy RELAX!!!!
Dov is heading to Israel as soon as hes done bathing in the Florida sun.
Instead of piling on Dov why dont you put the blame w,,here it really belongs? In the lap of governor Cuomo and Mike Bumbug? 2 huge failures!
While the author is entitled to his opinion, I found this post shameful. As another comment suggested, Dov’s involvement in an issue on the national front is a good reason why to pay more attention to that. Disagree if you will, but he was NOT selling anyone down the river. This post was not pro-anything, just anti-Dov, and that itself is a disgrace. Additionally, the ability to travel from Florida back home was an issue to reckon with, and not a small one. Does the author know how much Dov was involved from the distance, using his connections for people and organizations? Or are accusations just being barked indiscriminately? Dov has never been a person to stand idly by anything, even a swastika on a bathroom door in Oklahoma. Do you really believe he went to sleep or suntanned on the beaches in Florida? Or are these fabricated suggestions just made for political gain?
I have no problem if YWN or any other website is used to push the positives of any candidate, whether by articles or ads. But the efforts to baschmutz – without any supportive evidence – is unacceptable. This post was simply offensive, stoops really low, and does not “pas” for YWN.
IF DOV HIKIND IS NOT GOING TO GET ON TO THE PUBLIC MEDIA 4 HELPING SANDY VICTIMS HE WONT HELP!! (he is like most politicians they only think about themselfs) SIMCHA FELDER IS IN THE SAME BOAT WHAT DOES HE DO 4 HIS PEOPLE (EXEMPT SPEND MILLIONS OF $$ ON HIS OWN ELECTION IM NOT SURE IF FELDER OR OUR KENYAN PRESIDENT IS WORSE TOUGH CHOISE)
Lashan Hara is translated as true information that is negative about one’s fellow jew–The Chafatz Chaim implores us not to listen to the Wicked one who says Loshon Hara beceause the very fact that he’s willing to say loshon HARA should paint him as a villian who has no credibility–it’s up to you to choose who to go with —the Chafetz Chaim or this other jew
#4,
i’m guessing “and therefore it’s l’toeles”
Its about time we had goverment representatives whose helpfulness doesnt hinge solely on how many tables of tickets were bought at their events and what they stand to gain for such helpfulness.
Typical Dov bashing. You know that this is par for ywn to urge everyone to vote against dov.
Be honest in your critique. You write, “Communities are without power, heat and hot water…”. Are you sure you are referring to communities in his district?
Bear in mind that he does not work for the utility company.
As you mentioned, Dov Hikind knows how to make noise, so the voters have an idea what he stands for. His opponent has not campaigned much and is therefore hardly known. Instead of bashing, if you prefer his opponent, why not provide some meaningful background on him?
Dear Mr. Katz,
Why stop at holding him accountable for his response or (the perceived) lack thereof. Why not blame him for the storm in the first place.
the real story here is that there is no gas in New York
The governor promised 28 million gallons where are they ?!
How come in linden New Jersey you can get gas ?! Something is going on in New York why is nobody covering it?! Where is hiking and greenfield the screaming lunatics and fielder too?!?!?!
Dov has dedicated his life to our community – what an awful article – Dov we love you!!!!! i imagine whoever wrote this has an agenda…. i think yeshiva world owes dov an apology…
Perhaps we should blame dov for todays earhquake in guatemala too.
