Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi announced that his country has suggested a 48-hour ceasefire in Gaza aimed at facilitating a swap of four Israeli hostages for Palestinian detainees.
El-Sissi’s remarks were made during a joint press briefing in Cairo with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The proposal coincides with scheduled talks in Doha involving Israeli, American, Egyptian, and Qatari officials to revive stalled truce negotiations.
