6:55PM EST: Yeshivaworld has just received word that a Kassam Rocket has struck the Zikim IDF base in Southern Israel. According to preliminary reports, there are more than 30 injured soldiers – in various conditions. This is a developing story – not yet on the news networks – and will be updated shortly.
UPDTAE 7:05PM EST: Hatzolah Israel is confirming to YW that there are 30 wounded with multiple injuries, rescue personnel are responding from the Negev, Ayalon and Yerushalayim areas. 2 Choppers have been dispatched as well as 2 Egged buses to evacuate the army base.
UPDATE 7:21PM EST: The head of MDA has just informed Hatzolah Israel, that “Boruch Hashem, Biderech Nes no soldiers were killed”.
UPDATE 7:23PM EST: 3 soldiers are in serious condition, 6 in moderate condition and 15+ in stable condition.
UPDATE 10:32PM EST: The Jerusalem Post is placing the casulty count at 52 , and Haaretz is reporting 62 – all IDF soldiers.

This is a wake up call (for myself and hope fully others)that all this was decided last year on Rosh Hashonah. The more we do, the harder we daven the better of a better impact that we will have in the coming year.

It is being reported that one soldier has unfortunately died of his wounds. May Hashem give the other soldiers a complete and quick recovery.

If Hamas bombing an IDF base isn’t an act of war I can’t imagine what it would take to get the Israelis to respond.
The sad fact of the matter is that in order for Israel to respond, many of the IDF leaders will have to admit that their disengagement plan two summers ago was a complete and utter failure.
These leaders now have to weigh bearing responsibility for their own mistake and taking the proper corrective action against holding their ground and ego and furthering the peril that faces our Jewish homeland.
How many more such attacks must occur before these soldiers realize their grave mistake?
Boruch hashem it was not worse. For a short period of time i was a drill sargeant there it is a nice base otherwise. i call for Chomat magen 2 in Gaza may we turn Gaza into a parking lot. Revenge will come as the response for injured soldiers is usualy harsher (although i dont think its fair but it is what it is)
