Just as the Pesach Bain Hazmanim comes to an end, a group of Israeli Yeshiva Bochrim took a trip to Nachal Yehudia, in the Golan heights. Unfortunately, the trip ended in tragedy, with the tragic Petira of Menachem Tzvi Edni (23). According to published reports, he went into the water to swim a little, and cool off, but R”L drowned.
Search and rescue personnel from police, ZAKA, and others ended with the body being retrieved by the IAF’s Elite 669 Unit.
He was a resident of Beit Vegan in Yerushalayim, and the Levaya is scheduled for thie (Monday) evening.
In light of tragedies which unfortunately happen during Bain Hazmanim in previous years, Gedolim in Eretz Yisroel have released letters signed by Maran Hagon Rav Shteinman Shlita and Maran Hagon Rav Elyashiv Shlita, encouraging yeshiva students to learn from the events of past years. The letter states “we have warned of the dangers of the time period in the past,” adding that since there is a week void of organized learning, this adds to the dangers involved in the ‘tiyulim’ (hikes).

I’ve been on that hike…does the editor know if this happened in the Black Canyon portion of the hike or in the regular part?
