Israel successfully launched a satellite this evening called ‘Horizon 7’. The satellite is already in orbit. The IDF refused to divulge the performance levels of the new satellite, but defense officials said that it was by far the most advanced satellite Israel has launched into space. Officials said that it was superior to the Eros B satellite – launched in April 2006 – which has the ability to spot images on the ground as small as 70 centimeters.

This was long in coming, after thay lost one into the ocean due to a faulty booster.
And, Ofek 7 is NOT a research satellite. (:-)
This bird is quite sophisticated for its size, even compared to US standards.
