Olmert promises ‘harsh response’ – IAF fires missile

iaf jet.jpgPrime Minister Ehud Olmert promised a “severe and harsh” response to the ongoing Kassam rocket fire, including the resumption of targeted killings of militants in the Gaza Strip. The prime minister’s office further stated the implementation of “a series of actions to target the those who launch rockets and their commanders, to thwart their ability to fire rockets and to damage the terrorist infrastructure.”

The United Nations who is very seldom heard condemning the Palestinians had the following to say: “UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon has called on Palestinian groups to stop the incessant Kassam attacks on Israel from Gaza, saying it was unacceptable for Palestinian organizations to target Israeli civilians.”

(Does that mean it’s OK to target soldiers?-YW)

Not long after Olmerts statement, the IAF conducted it’s second air-strike in Gaza of the day. This strike was pointed at terrorists readying for another Kassam attack. It’s unknown if there were any casualties.

  1. It’s all talk. Mr. Olmert when will you do something ? I have to travel to work every day in a bullet proof bus !!! They are scared of what the west will say and they are taking it slow. When I see action I will believe it. Till then I no longer believe what they say.

  2. “He” also promises to give back karka b’eretz yisrael. Olmert is a “lame duck.” (sic) As a stuanch zionist gam a’doti yehudi, I am ashamed of Yisraeli politics.

  3. YW – Unfortunately, I think that in war, one does target soldiers, much as we wish that weren’t the case as the soldiers in question are our brothers and sisters and some feel that the attackers have no legitimacy upon which to base an attack.

These Arabs are at war with the State of Israel, and, just as Israel can target their terrorist “soldiers”, so to, they are entitled to target Israeli military resources. Now, if Israel would call it that and issue an ultimatum that it is going to reconquer and annex Gaza unless it is completely quiet forever, both sides would get somewhere.

But Israel prefers to have its citizens kaTzon laTevach, until the outcry is so great that they have to do some perfunctory motion. After all, the Zionists have always valued “International Opinion” far more than Jewish lives. That is, after all, the beauty of Zionism and its protection of Jews.
