Likud MK Reuven Rivlin paid a visit this morning to Chacham Ovadia Yosef Shlita presumably to ask Chacham Yosef to support his candidacy for president. It is interesting to note that Shimon Peres paid a visit to Chacham Yosef a few weeks ago to seek his support in HIS run for President as well (as reported HERE on YW). Is would not seem probable that Rabbi Lau would pay a visit to Chacham Yosef, since it was reported (HERE on YW) that he does not feel that a Chareidi should be President of Israel.

According to Arutz-7, Chacham Yosef does not feel that a RAV should be President. He did not say anything about a Chareidi lay person.
Good choice is Ruby Rivlin for president, and Chacham Yosef has shown preference to him in the past.
