Defense Minister Ehud Barak met in his Tel Aviv office with US convoy to the Mideast George Mitchell. The two discussed the need for direct talks with the Palestinians.

Earlier, Mitchell met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Mitchell met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday.
