One smuggler was shot dead and another wounded along the Egyptian border on shabbos. Soldiers explain the infiltrators did not heed their calls to halt and they followed open-fire protocol, including warning shots, eventually shooting at the suspects.

Officials report that earlier, a large quantity of drugs was found in the area of the incident, leading them to suspect drug smugglers. They were indeed found with a large quantity of hashish. There were no injuries to IDF troops.
