Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu once again relies on his superb oratory skills to explain away another unwanted government decision, the Security Cabinet’s announcement on Sunday to relax the Gaza blockade.
The prime minister stated that in essence, by permitting many more goods into Gaza, in essence, it is now clear to the entire world that there is no longer a “civilian blockade” on Gaza but only a “military blockade”, and this the prime minister insists will work to Israel’s advantage.
In the meantime, Gilad Shalit is days away from his fourth anniversary in Hamas captivity, and he has not received a single humanitarian visit, not from the International Red Cross or any organization.
The senior government trio, the prime minister, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman will decide what items are permitted into Gaza and those items that will remain banned.
