There were rumors on Thursday evening that the Shas Council of Torah Sages was convening later in the evening to discuss controversial statements and piskei halacha released by one of the party MKs, Rabbi Chaim Amsellem, especially regarding the controversy surrounding state giyur.

It appears the rav was invited to explain a number of matters, and he did not detail the events with members of the press, other than to tell the chareidi media he is most pleased to have had the opportunity to express his Torah views to the party’s Gedolei Torah.

The Council also released a statement lamenting ongoing discrimination in mosdos, calling for corrective actions from relevant parties.
