Modi’in Illit Mayor Yaakov Gutterman and Bnei Brak Mayor Yaakov Asher walked out of a Ministry of Industry & Trade conference addressing jobs in the chareidi community.
Asher told the media that the “patronizing and demeaning remarks” from one of the speakers compelled his action, leaving the Bar Ilan University conference. He was joined by Mayor Gutterman and other participants of the conference.
Asher explains the process addressing the creation of jobs in the chareidi sector was underway, including meetings that were held recently involving askanim, MKs, ministers, and Industry & Trade Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, who is spearheading the impetus.
Asher was referring to a speaker from Bar-Ilan, a professor, who applied a satirical reference regarding the chareidi community and employment. Asher expressed confidence that in a similar conference addressing employment in the secular or Arab communities, the same tone would not have been used or tolerated.
Asher had only words of praise for Ben-Eliezer and his staff, which continue working in earnest towards creating additional jobs suited for members of Israel’s chareidi community.

Kol Hakavod for this action.
A peaceful demonstration of dissent is the proper way to go, let them find the correct words rather than satire to demean others.
