Rabbi Menachem Fruman, the rav of the Gush Etzion community of Tekoa, met last week with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, discussing the recent deterioration in relations between Turkey and Israel.

Fruman is well known in the Israeli media for similar media stunts in the past, as he has met with the most venomous terrorists, including former Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, who was eliminated in an IDF Targeted assassination.

Interestingly, while Tekoa is known as being a very right-wing community, its rav continues to undermine the wishes of most of his community, meeting with many of Israel’s enemies towards implementing dialogue as he puts it.

Fruman told reporters following his meeting that Erdogan promised to use his influence with Hamas towards persuading the terror organization to release Gilad Shalit.
