Israeli civilians are not the only ones learning about how to behave in case of a massive missile attack. 70 representatives from 30 countries throughout the world are currently participating in the Turning Point 4 emergency training exercise, which is organized by the National Emergency Authority (NEA). Among the countries that have sent representatives are Japan, China, Brazil, Ecuador, India, Colombia, Mexico, the USA, various European countries.
Ze’ev Tsug-Ram, Head of the NEA, welcomed the attendants and thanked them for their participation in the exercise, expressing his desire to increase the exchange of knowledge between the participating countries. “The exchange and sharing of knowledge between the countries is important in order to guarantee a high level of suitable services to the civilian population in different scenarios. I consider this meeting a basis for future cooperation and the creation of a proper infrastructure,” said Tsug-Ram.
During this week, the international representatives will tour the country, visit search and rescue sites and watch the administration of national crisis situations. In addition to that, they will also visit several Israeli heritage sites, including the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum and the Knesset.
Kobi Vimisberg, the Head of the Visitors Administration, said, “This gathering is a golden opportunity to sit together and discuss information that every country has in the field of search and rescue. Unfortunately Israel’s experience has given it a lot of knowledge, and the representatives of other countries come to learn about the unique perspective of the exercise which combines government offices, local authorities and civilian organizations.”
