The night shift from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning was far from its usual quiet for Bnei Brak firefighters and police. An alarm was called in at about 1:00am for two cars ablaze in front of 20 Zonnenfeld Street. They sustained heavy damage despite the fact neighbors came out of their homes and tried to douse the blaze before firemen arrived.
As police were tending to the incident they were summoned to nearby Eshel Avraham Street, near Ezer Mizon’s building, where two ‘at-risk youths’ attacked the police. They were quickly overcome and placed under arrest.
Another car fire call came in at 3:40am, this time in front of 6 Avnei Ezer Street, in the same general area.
Baruch Hashem, there were no injuries in the fires and gas cylinders, which were dangerously close, did not ignite or explode. Police and fire marshals are investigating.
