Security officials responsible for protecting the nation’s justices monitor news and websites, including those affiliated with the chareidi community, and the growing sentiment against High Court Justice Edmond Levy, a Shomer Shabbat Jew, has prompted discussions of increasing security for the judge.
Levy has played a major role in the court decisions addressing accusations of racial discrimination in the Emanuel Beis Yaakov, and he has been labeled “kapo”, “informer” and “one who disguises himself to find an avenue to vent his anti-religious leanings” in the chareidi print and electronic media.
Nevertheless, court security officials are not increasing security for Levy, but he has been instructed to be increasingly vigilant regarding his surroundings. Officials are also continuing to monitor the situation regarding Levy and the Emanuel case.
