An Israeli woman and her child escaped a carjacking at Hizme, an Arab village bordering a northern Jerusalem checkpoint along the road leading from the northern capital and the Shomron, to the Binyamin Regional Council communities.
Her husband exited the vehicle to begin pumping gas in Hizme when the Arab male decided to capitalize on the situation, getting in and driving off with mom and their 1-year-old daughter on board. The woman began fighting the car thief, resulting in a light knife wound to her hand. The thief headed in the direction of Anata but the struggle caused him to crash into a guardrail. He fled on foot.
B’chasdei Hashem, mother and child were not physically injured.
