As June 25th rapidly approaches, marking the fourth anniversary of Gilad Shalit’s captivity, his father Noam told a Kiryat Motzkin rally on Sunday that he was disappointed that two successive prime ministers have failed to bring his son home. Gilad was taken hostage by Hamas in a cross border terror attack at Kerem Shalom. Two soldiers were killed in the attack and others wounded, including Shalit, who reportedly sustained a fractured arm.
“He remains in the Hamas dungeons, muted, trying to faintly call out for his freedom” Mr. Shalit said in a visibly pained voice.
Once again, Shalit called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to give the order to bring his son home, to make a deal to release terrorists from our prisons in exchange for his son’s release.
Kiryat Motzkin City Hall worked with the municipality’s elementary school, making a very large flag used for the occasion of the rally. Mr. Shalit admitted the decision is a difficult one but “the flag mustn’t be ignored”.
Another rally was held outside the Prime Minister’s Residence in Yerushalayim on Friday evening under the banner “welcoming shabbos in captivity”. Several hundred people attended that event.
