Less Than Half of Israelis Classify Themselves as Secular


While at times the atmosphere and news reports paint a different reality, the Central Bureau of Statistics released figures than less than half, 42% of Israelis define themselves as secular.

The government poll reports that 8% categorize themselves as chareidim, 12 shomer shabbos, 13 traditional, and 25% as traditional Jews. The largest category is the secularists.

  1. Largest category? Shouldn’t they now how to read their own polls? It says that 52% associate themselves primarily with Torah and mitzvos compared to 42% who do not.
