On erev shabbos at 5:00am, Mishael Abramov z”l headed for shul, walking to the Yismach Moshe Shul in the Hatikva neighborhood of Tel Aviv as was his daily practice. Two hours later, he was murdered R”L in a violent robbery.
At 7:00am, he opened the door of his home to air it out, beginning to clean for shabbos. The thieves entered the apartment, surprising them, and a caretaker ran and locked herself in the bathroom hearing the violence taking place outside. After a period of time she heard silence, deciding the threat had passed, coming out of the bathroom and summoning the victim’s daughter to come immediately.
Police and EMS arrived, finding Mishael on the living floor. He was in cardiac arrest and they began life-saving efforts on the 88-year-old man, who was transported to the trauma unit of Ichilov Hospital. He was pronounced dead following unsuccessful advanced life support resuscitation.
Police indicate the burglars were well acquainted with the neighborhood, permitting them to get away. Neighbors believe drug addicts were responsible for the horrible crime. They explain that Mishael was well-known, a veteran resident and until a few months ago, ran a shoe repair store under his home.
Police later on Friday requested and received a court order prohibiting publication of any details of the ongoing investigation.

Was there some kind of neighborhood watch in this neighborhood?
If not then starting one might be a good idea to G-d willing help prevent something like this in the future.
But if they start a neighborhood watch they should have irregular patrols so the criminals cannot get used to any pattern, that they could then plan their crimes, around.
