Gaza – Ma’an – Hamas warned the PLO on Friday against returning to negotiations with Israel, calling the proposal to enter into so-called proximity talks “absurd, giving the occupation an umbrella to commit more crimes against the Palestinians.”
In a statement calling on the PLO Executive Committee, the Islamic movement added that “continuing to bet on and allude to the Americans’ guarantees, which have no basis in reality, is actually gambling with Palestinian national rights.”
Hamas called on the PLO to stop “selling illusions to the Palestinians, to announce the failure of their efforts, and move toward national unity based on a unified Palestinian program that would protect national principles and rights.”
