In a statement released at an opening session of legal proceedings against former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in the Jerusalem District Court in the Rishon Tours case, he stated that he never took bribery funds, never saw bribery funds and was never offered a bribe, stating in recent weeks, he has been targeted in a character assassination effort by his opponents, insisting he has not broken the law.
The former prime minister added that even “a former prime minister is presumed innocent and I am entitled to a fair legal process”, denying having ever broken the law in his public service. Olmert insists and “organized witch hunt” has been launched against him.
In a related matter, Olmert’s brother Yossi, who resides abroad, denies rumors of his involvement in illegal actions and receiving bribery funds.
