Buses carrying Mishkolitz Chassidim came under attack with a hail of rocks as it traveled near the northern Israeli Druse community of Peikin. The vehicle carrying the Rebbe Shlita was also bombarded with rocks as it passed the area as well. They were on their way back from Meron.

A number of passengers on board the bus sustained light injuries and they received first aid on the scene. The group was brought to a local police station.

Chossid Yosef Glantz explains that they every year, on the day after Lag B’Omer, they travel to the village, where Rav Shimon Bar Yochai’s cave is located. As they were about to leave, dozens of youths surrounded them, bombarding the vehicles with stones, rocks and very large rocks. The chassidim explained this was the first incident in the 25 years they have been visiting the cave.

Rabbi Eliezer Berger, the Rebbe’s son explained the attack came from the right side of the bus, adding all the windows on that side of the fifth bus in the convoy were broken and a number of talmidim were injured, the daily HaMevaser reports.

Police were summoned and chassidim report the response was quick.
